info@morningmistholidays.comDay 01: Cochin-Munnar (Hill Station 130 km) Arrival at Cochin Airport/Railway Station. Our representative will be there to welcome you and then to drive you to Munnar. It is the most beautiful hill station of Kerala, situated at 1600m above sea-level. One of the most sought after honeymoon destinations, this beautiful hill station was once the summer resort of the British Government in India. Round the year moderate cool climate, vast expanse of manicured tea gardens and the enchanting greenery would lift up your spirits. Afternoon visit to the Cheeyappara waterfalls, Valara waterfalls, Spices & Ayurvedic plantation tour and Tea garden. Evening at Leisure. Overnight stay at Munnar.
Day 02: Munnar After breakfast visit Rajamala, the natural habitat of Nilgiri Tahr, a mountain-goat with short prickly fur and broad build. The destination is famous for the Neelakurinji flowers, which bloom once in every twelve years. The bloom of these rare flowers will give the destination a different bluish look. The next bloom is expected to be in 2030. Afternoon visitFlower Garden, Photo Point, Shooting Point and Mattupetty Dam. Speed boat rides are available there. The dam is flanked by forests and vast expanse of grassland on one side and the Kundala tea plantation on the other. Tea Museum is another attraction. Overnight stay at Munnar.
Day 03: Thekkady( 120 Km) After breakfast proceed to Thekkady, the famous wild life sanctuary. Check in a hotel/resort in Thekkady. It is on one edge of the famous Periyar wild life sanctuary. The 130 year old 'Surki' dam (Mullaperiyar) built across Periyar River or Poorna in Vedic parlance, has created an artificial lake over an area of 25 sq.km. Afternoon visit to Periyar Lake for boating. Periyar sanctuary offers you a unique opportunity to view wild life, safely and from very close quarters, while you do the boating. Overnight stay at Thekkady and enjoy the moderate pleasant climate and pristine air.
Day 04: Alleppey (155 km) After breakfast proceeds to Alleppey, the Venice of the east. By noon check in to a houseboat in Alleppey, for a 20 hour houseboat cruise through the legendary backwaters of Kerala. Kuttanad, lying on the eastern side of Alleppey, is a mesh of rivers, water bodies, canals and island like pieces of land surrounded by water. On the way you would be able to witness the unique life style of people of Kuttanad and the mind boggling sceneries would be firmly etched in your mind. Houseboats are provided with fully furnished spacious bath attached bed rooms, hygienic kitchen, dining area and private deck to capture the beauty of the backwaters. Overnight stay in the houseboat.
Day 05: Cochin (60 km) After breakfast check out from the houseboat and proceed to Cochin, the famous port city of Kerala, for a bit of sight-seeing and shopping. In the afternoon, proceed to the Cochin Airport/Railway Station for onward journey.
